ashland farmer’s market

one of the community’s best kept secret’s is the saturday farmer’s market. marybell landrum from christ united methodist church shared many interesting facts about this 32 year old community event that happens every july-october in the church’s parking lot on saturday mornings. all merchants tithe 10% of their sales back to the church for outreach. its grown from 12 vendors in 1977 to more than 60 currently. this year the proceeds will be more than $10,000 from the locally grown and produced food items. one interesting sidebar was how international students use the market to sell ethnic cuisine to pay for their school housing.
