District Governor Visit

his week, the Rotary Club of Ashland heard from Jim Heinrich, the District Governor of Rotary International, District 6600. Jim is a member of the Rotary Club in St. Marys, Ohio. He was introduced by next year’s Governor, David L. Dayne from Galion, Ohio. The theme of Rotary International this year is “The Future of Rotary is in your hands” indicating that all Rotary Clubs have the potential to support the Four Way Test in many activities. There are 1.2 million members of Rotary International, organized in 33,000 clubs. The clubs are in 200 plus countries. Each club is unique. Rotary Club of Ashland being chartered in May of 1922, 87 years ago. The Toledo club is 100 years old this year.
President Scott Finn, president of the Rotary Club of Ashland hosted a pre-meeting with the District Governor at the Ashland Country Club where the board members discussed Ashland’s Rotary, our goals, membership, affect on the community, volunteer activities, and community support efforts.
Rotarian Julia Wright announced the kick off the annual Nut Sale at Dazzle on Sunday, November 8. Dazzle is a benefit for the Ashland Symphony Orchestra, and is held at the Heritage Room on Ashland University’s campus. Dazzle is open from 11 am to 5 pm, and the $3.00 admission fee will Be-dazzle us with unique gifts from over 75 vendors. Rotary Club of Ashland will be selling fresh roasted Cashews, Honey Roasted Cashews, Almonds and boxes of Deluxe Mixed nuts at eight dollars a pound.
Next week’s meeting held at the Ashland Country Club will be a working lunch with each committee finalizing goals for the club.DG
