The Coordinator for the Indian’s Speaker Bureau, Nate Janoso shared updates at Progressive Field during this week’s lunch meeting of the Rotary Club of Ashland, being held at the Country Club of Ashland.
Nate, talked about his Dream Job working for the Indians, and the opening game April 12, against the Texas Rangers. The Indian’s Baseball team has Sandy Alomar Jr as First Base Coach and Catching Instructor. Nate thanked the fans of Progressive Field for making the ballpark number one as the Major League Baseball’s top ballpark. The survey was conducted by Sports Illustrated and covered such areas as value and fun at the park. The Indians have worked on going green for the last three years. In 2007 they disposed of 1261 tons of trash. Trash was reduced in 2008 to 957 tons and 2009 down to 722.9 tons. They are also recycling more and more each year. Solar Panels have been installed above the first base deck. A few plusses of attending the 81 home games are Friday night Fireworks, Saturdays a give away, and Sunday, is Kids’ Fun Day, running the bases and several contests.
