The Rotary Club of Ashland is excited to welcome Ms. Isabella Franco, from Brazil as our inbound Rotary Youth Exchange student for 2009.  She was welcomed at the airport by her host family on Saturday January 24. Ms. Isabella Franco is the daugher of Ze Franco who was an inbound student in 1979.  Paulo Franco, Ze’s younger brother and Isabell’s uncle was also an inbound in 1989.

One of the hallmark’s of RI is the youth exchange.  its been almost 9 years since the local club hosted an inbound student.  our last outbound was Sarah Roepke who went to the Paris region of France in 2003.

We’ve be added a special section here on the web page to allow Isabella a place to post some of her journey as she spends the year here as our guest.

Ashland Interact Club

January 6th, 2009

dscn0165 One of our best kept secrets is an incredible group of students who attend the Ashland County West Holmes Career Center who are members of the Ashland Interact Club.  Their effort is led by Community School Liasion Mrs. Deb Gilson.

The purpose of an Interact Club is to: LEAD-SERVE-CONNECT-INTERACT!

For youth ages 14-18, Interact is an opportunity to

  • Make new friends
  • Improve your community
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Make a difference in the world

By joining an Interact Club students will develop leadership skills while helping others. Interact clubs are self-governing and financially independent, making it possible to choose and carry out service projects that you care about.
